Mahi Mahi is situated on Simeulue Island 150km from Sumatra. Many refer to this are as the last frontier as its as uncrowded and unspoilt. There are beach breaks, point breaks and island breaks. Situated just above the equator, Simeulue does not get affected by trade winds, making it very favorable conditions for surfing all year round.
The Peak which is the most consistent wave on the island is right out in front the resort and viewable from all rooms and common spaces. One of the few places where you can both explore via land and sea from the same resort. Ask us about the boat and land options.
Apart from the Peak, there are plenty more breaks in the area.
Known as one of the best breaks in the area, a powerful long right hander with hollow tubes.
If Dylans doesn’t work – check out this fun left hander which breaks over a deeper reef.
Grab a bike and head South! Consistent A-frames up for grabs!
There is an island which holds a very heavy break, called Tea Bags, it’s a powerful right reef break!
When there’s no swell, this is the place to be! A fun right hander that picks up swell almost 365 days a year.
A fun left hand reef break reachable by boat. It holds up huge swells and is suitable for longboard as well as shortboard.
Due to it’s remoteness, there are many more undiscovered and unnamed breaks in the area. So grab a bike or get on a boat and go search for those secret spots!
Mahi-Mahi Surf Resort is more than a surf resort. We aim to entertain surfers and non-surfers alike. Yoga, waterfall hikes, ocean & river SUPing, mountain biking, volleyball, pitch & put golf, market visits, billiards, movies, bird watching, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, motorbike riding & island hopping are all activities we would love to share with you.
There are a number of communal areas for guests to enjoy. The Joglo, a large open area made from traditional teakwood, is where all meals are enjoyed, and is equipped with a projector for movie nights, a stereo, comfortable sofas and bean bags, table tennis, board games and books, and of course – a view of the peak.
There are two bar tops for dining, a fire-pit for bonfires, a 9 hole pitch-and-put golf course, a volleyball court, and soon to be added – a swimming pool.
Our “Yoglo”, or yoga studio, is made from coconut wood flooring and antique Javanese wood, providing a comfortable and beautiful studio overlooking the surf. Yoga is provided for free to all guests. Periodically we host yoga retreats, if you are interested in hosting your own, please get in touch.
A distinguishing amenity is our Satellite Wi-Fi. No other resort on the island has satellite Wi-Fi.
